Round 10 in the Midweek section of men's bowls was played last Thursday.
Competition leader Kaka Point Orcas went down to Balclutha White, 26-13. The lead in the competition has passed to Owaka, which came away with a good win over Clinton, 27-11.
• Finegand also remains in contention for the competition. It was too strong for T and C, winning 25-10.
• Balclutha Red came back to form with a 27-10 win over Kaka Point Seals.
• In the other game played, Waihola beat Milton 20-10.
Men's sevens: Round six in the men's sevens has been played.
Clutha Valley retained top place, beating Lawrence-Waihola combined 4-2.
In the fours, Don Cameron (Combined) held off Ken Rishworth 9-7. The pairs result was also a close one, as Dawson Cowie's Valley team nudged out Brendon Hollander's combined team, 13-12. The singles went to Robert Wilson, who had a tough tussle with John Moana, winning 25-21.
• Kaka Point took maximum points against Owaka, winning 6-0. John Bisset's four gave the seasiders a good start, winning 20-10. In the pairs, Dave Bichan and John Hurst combined well for Kaka Point, and took the honours 25-15. In the singles, Peter Twaddle was too good for Bruce Wilson, of Owaka), winning 25-12.
• Balclutha also remained in contention with a 6-0 win over Stirling. Neville Thomson led the Balclutha four to a 15-6 victory. Tony Cook and Darren Wolland won the pairs game for Balclutha, 24-20 over Jamie Nicol and John Sutherland (Stirling). This game was a thriller, which could have gone either way.
In the singles, Gareth Thomson scored a win over Bob Sanders (Stirling) 25-16.
South Otago open singles: Robert Wilson (Clutha Valley) achieved his 17th centre title, when he won theSouth Otago men's open singles championship, beating Brian Cowie (Milton) 25-8.
Wilson was too good on the night, while Cowie did notfind the sort of form he had produced in the previous rounds.
