Dunedin man Wayne Dunlop  displays his 1959 Cadillac at the Kaitangata Car Show and Run at the weekend.

Mr Dunlop bought the car as a  wreck from a man in Leeston, near Christchurch, about two years ago.

It was covered in bird poo and about an inch of dust, he said.

The man  he bought it from  was selling off his possessions with only one month to live.

But luckily he lived in the end.

He’s still with us, and I took him for a ride in his old car a while back.

Show organiser Louise McLaren said more than 300 cars were registered.
