Man critical after stabbing assault in Invercargill

A man was left critically injured after a stabbing assault in Invercargill at the weekend.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the Lyon St property in Glengarry about 8.05pm on Saturday.

The man was found with multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery.

The scene was guarded by police on Saturday night.

A scene examination took place yesterday and inquiries were ongoing, the spokeswoman said.

Police this evening said they wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen a black sedan in the area.
