Callout to fire at shed on rural property

Fire crews battled a large shed fire at a rural property near Duntroon, inland from Oamaru yesterday.

Fire crews were called to the scene in Earthquake Rd at 2pm after it was reported a six-bay shed was ablaze. Crews from Kurow and Duntroon initially responded, but were later joined by crews with tankers from Oamaru and Weston.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said the structure was ``fully involved'' by the time the first crews arrived.

The fire had been brought under control by 4.30pm and crews remained at the scene to dampen down hot spots.

Fenz also attended a blaze in Gore when appliances from Riversdale, Balfour, Waikaka and Gore, were called out just after 1pm.

There was no detail on the size of the blaze, but firefighters were applying foam just after 2pm and had enough resources to deal with the fire.
