Police and LandSAR teams have completed another day of searching for a fisherman missing since Sunday.

Sergeant Ian Martin, of Invercargill, said 40 people searched along Slope Point in eight teams for Shan Norton McLauchlan (29).

Amateur Radio Emergency Communications in Invercargill assisted in the search, however Mr McLauchlan was not found.

No helicopter was used today.

Mr Mclauchlan was last seen fishing from the rocks about noon on Sunday.

His partner raised the alarm when he failed to return home.

Police found his car and fishing equipment at Black Point, about 3km west of Slope Point, on Sunday night.

A fishing rod was recovered from the sea near where he had been fishing.

A helicopter was deployed on Sunday but nothing was found in the search.

Nearly 20 staff in eight search teams searched coastline, to the east and west of Black Point on Monday.

Police said a decision would be made tomorrow on the future of the search.
