Firefighters attend car fire caused by mechanical failure

Firefighters in Invercargill were called yesterday morning to a car fire.

One crew from Kingswell arrived at the scene on Motu Rimu Rd about 8.20am.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman said the fire was due to a mechanical fault and firefighters were there about two hours.

Oil had spilled from the vehicle and firefighters waited until regional council staff arrived to clear it.
