Invercargill City Councillors will today consider whether to put a proposal to invest in the City Block Development out for public consultation.
It had requested preparation of a statement of proposal for investment in the City Block.
If it does get approved, the consultation process would begin this Saturday.
Chief executive Clare Hadley said the council had previously committed to consulting with the community, should direct investment in the City Block Development be considered.
She said it would "in short, ask whether council should directly invest in the City Block Development''.
The project proposes to redevelop the block of buildings between Esk and Tay Sts, bordered by Dee and Kelvin Sts.
