An Invercargill resident was taken to hospital after sustaining a burn to a hand in a small cooking fire early today.
Crews were called to the a Liffey St, Avenal, apartment around 2.45am, Fire Service officials said.
The blaze was quickly extinguished and the person was taken to Southland Hospital.
Property damage was understood to be minor.
