The NZ Transport Agency has set a new permanent speed limit on State Highway 94, through Lumsden, in Southland, to take effect on October 16.
The existing 50kmh speed limit in the town will be extended 300m closer to Gore on the eastern side.
The change was made because of increasing traffic volumes in the area over the past five years.
It came after public consultation in 2019, when 48 submissions supported the extension.
