Southern police have named the man who died after falling off a boat in Te Anau.
He was Howard Robert Phillips (68) from Invercargill.
Emergency services were called to the annual race event about 1.30pm on Saturday.
Several other vessels searched for Mr Phillips after he fell and was found in the water a short time later.
Police said CPR was performed on him, but this was unsuccessful.
The matter was now with the Coroner.
