Mataura men charged over alleged aggravated burglary

Police have arrested two Mataura men in relation to an alleged aggravated burglary after executing searches at multiple Southland properties today.

Police said it executed search warrants this morning at one property in Gore and three in Mataura in relation to the alleged aggravated burglary of a South Otago address on June 12.

The men, aged 31 and 20, have been charged with aggravated burglary and were due to appear in the Invercargill District Court this afternoon.

A 32-year-old Mataura woman was also arrested in relation to the drugs and utensils located in the search and will be appearing on drug charges in the Gore District Court in early July.

These searches were conducted by police officers from Balclutha, Gore, the Invercargill CIB and the Armed Offenders Squad.

"A number of items of interest and some of the property stolen in the burglary were located in the search.

We believe they are connected to the burglary," police said.

Police said it also located methamphetamine, cannabis and two firearms.
