New staff for ‘ODT’ regions

The Otago Daily Times has welcomed two new staff members to its regions team.

Ben Waterworth, who is from Australia, has joined the Southland team and is based in Invercargill. Ben (31) has been involved in media for 14 years with a background in radio as well as print media for the past seven years.

He previously worked for The Mercury newspaper in Hobart, Australia, as a reporter covering breaking news, sport and entertainment.

He has  worked for numerous magazines and online publications.

He also hosted and produced several podcasts online. Ben moved from Australia to New Zealand with his partner last month.

Adam Burns is joining the Central Otago team and is based in Alexandra.

Adam (32) graduated from the New Zealand Broadcasting School earlier this year.

Alongside his studies, he worked as a reporter and producer for Radio Sport’s Red and Black show for which he was the primary Super Rugby correspondent. 

He  also worked in student radio for several years.

Before this, he volunteered as a music feature writer and reviewer for numerous magazines and online publications.

Originally from Rotorua, being a father to his 7-year-old son has also kept him busy.
