Estella Lamb says she does  not have the slightest idea what the secret to a long life is.

Mrs Lamb, who  will celebrate her 100th birthday on Sunday,  still lives in her own home.

She  lived on the family farm when she married her husband, James, 76 years ago. The couple had four children, Jim, Jeff (deceased), Ava (deceased) and Ian.

Her son Jim, said Mrs Lamb had  worked inside, making meals, and outside, helping with farm work.

Mrs Lamb  had a keen interest in sport and had played for the Waikaka Tennis Club, Jim  said.

"She played netball, tennis and hockey. She played a lot of tennis; she  still played for the club when I was at school."

The couple had been  heavily involved with the Waikaka Rugby Club  and  Mrs Lamb was  a big fan of the All Blacks,  Jim said. She still enjoyed watching rugby, hockey, netball and tennis on television.

After the couple retired,  they moved  20 years ago to the  4ha  farm block where Mrs Lamb still lives.

She  was married for 73 years,  Jim said. She met her future husband after  moving to Waikaka in the late 1930s.

Mrs Lamb is  having a birthday afternoon tea at the Waikaka Sports Complex.

Neighbours and friends are welcome to come and celebrate with the family from 2pm.
