It might be third time lucky for those who want to attend the Menzies College reunion.

Hopefully, in five years’ time, everyone can come from far and wide to celebrate something special at the Wyndham school, and Covid-19 will be long gone.

The school had planned to celebrate its 50th anniversary at Waitangi Day weekend earlier this year. But in July last year, because of the Covid-19 situation, it was decided to postpone the event to February next year.

But with restrictions still in play the 2022 event was also in doubt and the decision has been made to not go ahead next February.

The college organising committee has now decided to move the celebrations to 2026 so it will be the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the opening of Menzies College.

Reunion committee member Gerry Ward said the decision to not hold the event next year was because of various factors.

Mr Ward said there was too much uncertainty about Covid-19 and the opening of South Island borders to domestic and international travellers.
