A 24-year-old wanted man has been arrested in Invercargill in relation to a shooting in June.

The armed offenders squad assisted with the arrest warrant in Miller St about 11am.

The man was wanted in relation to a shooting in Kelvin St on June 30.

Police are not seeking anyone else over the incident.

The man is due to appear in the Invercargill District Court today, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police blocked off the area from Tweed and Lindisfarne Sts yesterday morning, and road spikes were used.

It was the second AOS incident in four days after police surrounded a house in Mavora Cres on Friday afternoon.

Following the Mavora Cres incident, police confirmed the callout was in relation to a search for Anthony Miles Tamaiti Watkins.

Police had been seeking him since June.
