Police have confirmed the name of a young woman who died following a crash in which her vehicle went into the Oreti River last Thursday night.
She was Kaia Hamilton (17), of Southland.
She died after she lost control of her car and it went into the river about 10.30pm, in West Plains, just west of Invercargill.
She was alone in the car when it crashed. The death has been referred to the coroner.
