Teenager arrested over Gore robbery

A teenager has been arrested over a Gore robbery during which a shop assistant had their hand cut with a machete.

Gore area response manager Acting Senior Sergeant Greg Ballantyne said police had arrested a 15-year-old boy over the robbery of Coutts Road dairy about 7.30pm on Thursday last week.

The boy has appeared in youth court on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated wounding.

Police were still looking to locate two other males in relation the robbery.

Police would like to thank the Gore community for their assistance and encouraged anyone with information to come forward, either to local police or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"We know the people of Gore do not tolerate this sort of behaviour and we will continue to work towards keeping this community safe," Snr Sgt Ballantyne said.

Three young males allegedly entered the Coutts Road dairy wearing balaclavas and dark backpacks. One was carrying a machete, police said.

Following a brief struggle with the shop attendant the trio ran down Lock Street and onto Irving Street, according to a police statement.

One of the offenders was wearing a light green hoodie and the other two were wearing dark coloured hoodies.
