Two Gore teens are celebrating after scoring five titles in a national dance competition.

Ben Heaps (17) and Kiera Ferguson (16) were competing at the New Zealand Open Dance in Wellington at the weekend in the youth/adult age division.

They were two of 10 youngsters competing in ballroom, Latin American and new vogue dancing categories with Rachel Wilson’s dance studio — all of whom made the finals.

Others competing were Carly Soper and Mitchell Vetters in the juvenile age division, Meg Heaps and Keira Dawson in the junior age division, Jysse Prattley and Kate Lawton in the youth/adult division and Brett Butler and Harriett Butler in the juvenile division.

Ms Wilson said it was a fantastic day, not just for the competitors, but for Southland.

"This has been one of the most amazing weekends for our dance studio and so rewarding for the hard work and hours of practice that has gone in by all the dancers t ... for this event."
