Three car crash near Lumsden leaves four injured

A three car crash near Lumsden this afternoon has left four people injured and blocked State Highways 6 and 97.

Police were alerted to the accident about 3.15pm at the intersection Five Rivers Rd (SH 97) and SH6, just north of Lowther. 

Three people have sustained moderate injuries, while another is in a serious condition. 

A helicopter has been dispatched to the scene to transport the injured parties to hospital. 

One of those injured was initially trapped in a vehicle, though they have now been freed. 

NZTA have advised the roads are now clear.
