Two seriously injured in Heriot crash

Two people are seriously injured after  a crash in Heriot, West Otago.

A police spokeswoman said police were notified of a van going over a bank at 3.20pm, after a member of the public who lived nearby heard the crash.

There were five patients, two taken to hospital by helicopter in a serious condition and three taken by road with moderate injuries.

A fire service spokeswoman said appliances from Heriot and Tapanui attended the scene of the crash in Switzers Rd.

Police were investigating the cause of the crash.

No other vehicles were involved.
