Dunedin trio charged over alleged racial attack

Three Dunedin men are facing violence and disorder charges over an alleged assault at Puzzling World in Wanaka last month.

Police said this morning they were thanking members of the public after the trio were arrested following the alleged assault, on an Australian man on January 20.

The victim, an unidentified man believed to be of Indian origin, has recovered from his injuries, police said. His family returned to Australia shortly after the incident.

At the time of the incident police said it ''appeared to be a racially targeted verbal altercation''.

Two men are to appear in the Dunedin District Court today, and the third is scheduled to appear in the Queenstown District Court on February 19.

All have been charged with violence and disorder offences.
