Jazz pianist Jonathan Crayford (left) and his roadie and nephew Jack Crayford move a Steinway grand piano out of Rippon Hall in Wanaka yesterday following a sellout concert there on Wednesday.

He played two shows in Queenstown last week and performs at the Hanover Hall in Dunedin tonight.

The award-winning pianist, multi-instrumentalist and composer, who is originally from New Zealand, but has only recently returned to live here, is travelling around the country with his 1955 full-sized Steinway D concert grand piano, giving performances in a range of venues that include a cement silo, a wine cave and a concert hall.

His most recent recordings Dark Light and East West Moon achieved great critical success, with the latter winning the 2017 Tui Award for Best Jazz Album.

Most recently, Crayford has been living in Paris and Spain, writing a film/opera and recording two albums of solo piano music in Spain and a trio album in New York.
