Grant for Roys Peak power supply

The Upper Clutha Radio Telephone Users Association has received a $100,000 grant from the Central Lakes Trust to go towards upgrading the power supply at its Roys Peak communications facility.

The grant was announced yesterday as part of the trust's April funding round.

For the past two months the association has sought funding to upgrade the power supply, after the original power cable was made redundant when it was struck by lightning in February.

The facility has been running on a diesel generator ever since, costing the association thousands of dollars to keep it running.

The association has previously stated it hoped to have the new power supply installed before winter.
