Kayaker rescued from Lake Wanaka

A kayaker was plucked from Lake Wanaka last night after he was toppled from his craft in high winds and was unable to paddle back to shore.

The kayaker got in trouble about  7pm when paddling near Bull Island, near the Stevenson’s Arm inlet.

His kayak overturned, but the paddler was able to cling on to the boat, before calling police for help.

A police spokesman said the kayaker was eventually brought to shore unharmed.
