Sometimes size really does matter

A dog with the physique of a front-row forward turned out to be not so interested in outright speed at yesterday’s Cardrona Alpine Resort dog derby.

Pure-bred St Bernard Clyde, and his Dunedin owner Adam Harvey, finished second last in the town dog field, though Mr Harvey pointed out Clyde, at 70kg, was still
a pup, and had more growing to do.

A field of about 40  dogs, in town and country classes, took part in the annual event as part of the Queenstown Winter Festival.
