Wanaka is the ideal place to reward top-performing employees.

That's the message 30 international "incentive'' travel agents will be taking home with them following a whirlwind ``pre-familiarisation'' tour of some of Wanaka's most popular tourist attractions yesterday.

The incentive buyers, pictured at Glendhu high country station, came from the United States, Southeast Asia and India and were brought to Wanaka by Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) ahead of Meetings, New Zealand's only national business tourism event for the conference, meetings, events, exhibition and travel incentive industry.

TNZ business events and premium tourism manager Lisa Gardiner said

initial feedback from the buyers was Wanaka ticked all the boxes for an incentive reward holiday.

Last night the group was joined by agents from China for a dinner at Rippon vineyard. They will fly to Auckland today for the two-day Meetings conference, which starts tomorrow.
