Water restrictions in place again

The  on-again off-again water restrictions at Luggate are on again.

That means no use of sprinklers, outdoor hoses or irrigation systems, although use of buckets and watering cans filled from taps is allowed.

The Queenstown Lakes District Council imposed the restrictions initially last week then lifted them yesterday before reimposing them again later in the day.

A council statement said the restrictions were reimposed to help conserve rapidly dropping reservoir levels.

"This follows a significant increase in water usage after softening water restrictions earlier [yesterday]."
