A white van was one of two vehicles involved in a fatal crash on the Hou Hou Creek bridge, just north of Hokitika, yesterday morning.
A Hokitika man died at the scene, at Three Mile.
The other vehicle’s driver sustained serious injuries.
Hokitika Volunteer Fire Brigade Chief Fire Officer Harry Collett said a van and a people mover collided on the bridge about 10.40am.
‘‘One car crossed the centre line and then veered back and ended up being T-boned by the vehicle coming from the north heading southward,’’ he said.
