Westfleet worker Chris Murgatroyd unloads hoki from Galatea II in Greymouth yesterday morning.

Westfleet general manager John Brown said fishers were making making the most of a break in the weather yesterday to head into port and unload.

"We have unloaded 1000 tonnes of hoki so far."

Galatea II had been harvesting the Hokitika Trench and was unloading five full loads a week at the moment, Mr Brown said.

Most of the fish would be processed at Westfleet’s Greymouth factory, and the rest would be transported to Sealord in Nelson.
