Police have named the man who died following a fall on the West Coast on Friday.
Nicolaj Brun (26) was from Denmark and had been living in Christchurch.
Mr Brun died after slipping on the Gunn Ridge Track near Whataroa while on a hunting trip with a friend.
He was killed in the fall, a police statement said.
"His partner went for assistance and was rescued by police.''
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
