An injured kayaker has been rescued from the Whakarira Gorge, near Hokitika, after spending the night in the bush with a friend.
The 23-year-old was taken to Greymouth Hospital with a dislocated shoulder.
A third member of their party had paddled out to raise the alarm yesterday but a rescue helicopter could not find them before nightfall.
