Tyre-slasher damaged 34 vehicles

Greymouth police are continuing to investigate a series of tyre-slashing incidents in the West Coast town.

Police have confirmed reports of 44 tyres being punctured on 34 vehicles between 1.10am and 2.45am on Wednesday, May 10.

Sergeant Mark Kirkwood said the tyre-slashing began in Herbert St, then moved to Guinness St, Tarapuhi St, Mackay St and Bright St, before finishing in Wickes St.

Police said today they would like to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around this time.

Sgt Kirwood said officers had been interviewing victims and witnesses, looking at security footage and making inquiries arising from information provided by the public.

If anyone had CCTV footage along the route that police had not already viewed, please contact them. He said police also wanted to hear from anyone who had spoken to a person who appeared to be involved, or seen anything on social media indicating who may be involved.
