West Coast crash victim named

A man who died following a car crash on the West Coast at the weekend has been named.

He was 22-year-old Jason Anthony McDonald, of Runanga.

Mr McDonald was involved in a single vehicle crash at Coal Creek in Greymouth on Sunday afternoon. Police yesterday said he had died as a result of his injuries.

West Coast Police Area Commander Superintendent Mel Aitken said the death was a tragic loss of a young life.

"Police's thoughts are with family and friends at this time," she said.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
