In a bid to make the freedom of snowsports accessible to everyone, The Remarkables is to host an Adaptive Programme Open Day on Saturday September 5.
Through The Remarkables' Adaptive Programme, the ski area is encouraging anyone who has a disability to register for the open day which offers the thrill of the snow, with free lift pass, equipment rental, lesson and volunteer support - no matter the disability.
The open day is also offering 50% discount on lift passes or tubing for immediate family members or fulltime caregivers of the open day participants.
Ross James, Adaptive Programme Coordinator at The Remarkables said it will be an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the snow regardless of ability.
"We have a great programme here at The Remarkables allowing people with all types of disability to safely experience the joy of snowsports" he said.
"Whether it's a visual, intellectual or physical disability, we can assist anyone to get out onto the slopes, and see how fun it is to truly feel the freedom of the mountain."
"We have instructors specially trained to teach the programme and top-of-the-range equipment and techniques to help everyone. We're looking forward to welcoming future snowsports enthusiasts, their families and their caregivers to The Remarkables for a fun and exciting day in the mountains."
Due to limitations on the amount of available equipment for the open day, priority will be given to people from the Wakatipu, Southland and Cromwell areas who are trying an on-snow experience for the first time.
People must register in advance to receive the most appropriate support and maximum fun from the day.
