A Lincoln University lecturer is expected to add academic strength to the Fonterra Milk Price Panel.

Prof Hamish Gow’s appointment to the co-op’s panel sits well with his role at Lincoln as a leading spokesman on trade policy and global value chains.

The Milk Price Panel is responsible for carrying out reviews of the milk price and the Milk Price Manual and supervising the calculation of the base milk price.

Prof Gow’s research and industry experience extends to agribusiness innovation, strategy, and market analysis.

He has led market development projects in more than 50 countries and has also consulted to the European Commission, OECD, IFAD, USDA, World Bank, as well as many more multinational groups, farmer organisations, and governments.

Agribusiness faculty dean Prof Hugh Bigsby said his appointment would bring an academic rigour to government and industry policy discussions.
