Federated Farmers North Canterbury’s annual meeting has been postponed until the spring.
President Cameron Henderson said his executive had considered holding the meeting online, but as this year is the province’s 75th anniversary, it opted to hold off until later in the year.
The annual meeting and celebrations were due to be held on Friday, May 8, in Waipara.
“It’s pretty difficult to celebrate anything at the moment. Everyone just needs to focus on themselves, on their own health and their farm’s health,” Mr Henderson said.
The delay would also give the executive some extra time to lock-in a successor to Mr Henderson as he began the final year of his three-year term.
The North Canterbury Rural Support Trust is going ahead with its annual meeting on Tuesday, May 12, with a Zoom meeting. Chairman Andy Munro will stand down.
