The Mayfield A&P Show drew a large crowd enjoying a great community day out with events and activities to suit young and old.

The sun was shining and people from the community — and beyond — were drawn to the 95th annual event on March 14, which organisers are hailing as a ‘‘ huge success’’.

The show continued with their point of difference from other shows with novelty events such as wobbly bike riding, pig racing, tractor tyre flipping and a tug of war competition —  people against a team of Clydesdale horses. But also had all the core aspects of an A&P show, with animal judging, a large home industries pavilion with baking, floral, art, vegetables among some of the competition entries and carnival entertainment . Other crowd pleasers included the popular equestrian events, dog trials run by the Mayfield Collie Club as well as a two-day tractor pull competition, organised by Tractor Pull New Zealand which was part of a nationwide circuit.

Central Rural Life was there to snap some of the action.
