Strath Taieri Young Farmers Club hosted its annual Speed Shear Competition last Saturday evening. A big crowd enjoyed the entertainment on stage — including MC Tom McCone’s one-liners. Alice Scott went along.

Results:

Open:  1st: Eru Weeds, 25.66sec; 2nd: Kornie Roberts, 27.53; 3rd: Tami Karauria, 29.65.
Senior:  1st: Hohepa Te Rata, 33.41; 2nd: Jack James, 42.85; 3rd: Richard Tohengaroa, 46.13.
Intermediate:  1st: JJ Houpapa, 40.53; 2nd: Josh Wihongi, 41.85; 3rd: Mitchell Menzies, 47.41.
Ex-Shearers: 1st: James Hall, 50.78; 2nd: Leon Leslie, 55.01; 3rd: Harvey Hutchison, 1.37.31.
