Families with a long heritage of farming their land can submit an application for this year’s New Zealand Century Farm and Station Awards in Lawrence.
Newly elected awards committee chairman Eddie Fitzgerald said it was an honour to be heading the national body on behalf of the committee.
"It is a tremendous privilege to acknowledge the unique heritage of these families at this event in Lawrence."
Eligible families submit narratives of their farm history, together with copies of related photographs and supporting documents, which will be archived at the Alexander Turnbull Library in Wellington.
A formal dinner in Lawrence each May honours the award recipients and their significant achievement of 100 or more years in farming.
Families who have owned and farmed their land since 1921, or earlier, are eligible to apply for the award.
Applications for this year’s intake close on November 30.
