The heat will be kept in the water this summer at the Carew Peel Forest School pool thanks to a donation.

ANZCO Foods’ donation of $4408 has gone towards funding new covers for the school swimming pool.

The company works with local dairy farming families who nominate a rural primary school for funding through the Sponsor a School Programme.

ANZCO donated more than $106,000 to primary schools last year.

Carew Peel Forest School and the school community have recently completed a significant refurbishment of the local swimming pool, with the work signed off by council late last year.

"The whole school is looking forward to using the pool this summer and we are just working through logistics around the Covid traffic light system to manage the safe community opening," acting school principal Jayne Rayner said.

"The pool is solar heated, and the covers will ensure the water stays warm and clean over the summer months.

‘‘The community is very excited about the refurbishment, as the pool provides a focus for community activities during the summer holidays with around 40 families receiving keys each year to use the pool.’’

Mrs Rayner said the school was grateful to ANZCO and the families who chose the school to receive the funding.
