New scholarship to Lincoln student

Lincoln University student Georgia Moody is the first person to receive a new Future Me Scholarship by New Zealand Young Farmers(NZYF).

The second year agricultural science student has been awarded $1500 for professional development.

Part of it will be used by Ms Moody to attend more agriculture events such as the BOMA Summit and New Zealand Hereford Youth Development Forums.

She wanted to encourage more youth from all walks of life to study and enter the workforce in the primary industries.

Teen and youth groups were gaining more traction in reaching out to young people from primary school through to university and full-time work, she said.

Ms Moody started as a member of her Feilding High School Teen Ag Club before joining Lincoln University Young Farmers club and is the junior vice-chairwoman.

Other Young Farmers’ scholarship holders are Lincoln University post graduate student Jeremy Kilgour and Massey University veterinarian student Nerida Bateup.
