Event co-ordinator Ev Deans said he was thrilled to see the community getting behind the celebrations.

"We've entered the hard work phase of organising the festival, but it’s exciting to know we’re on track for a fantastic weekend and once again bringing something really special to Oamaru."

The event culminates on Sunday with the Victorian Fete.
