Museum chairwoman Gay Lamb said the church fell victim to nature in last October’s storm.
"Unfortunately, in the wind storm . . . [the building] was blown off its piles, so now we’re faced with putting it back."
Volunteers started a Givealittle page to try and make a dent in the almost $40,000 needed to re-pile the building.
Just over $4000 has been raised.
Mrs Lamb said the 98-year-old church was treasured by the volunteers who run the operation.
"We’ve looked after it and it’s an icon of the area.
"It’s a beautiful church."
Memorabilia on display includes communion items and Bibles.
The museum had about 20,000 visitors a year before the Covid-19 pandemic, and patronage was climbing, Mrs Lamb said.
The museum is open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 10am-4pm.
