Some of production’s lead roles go to locals

Two Gore locals are taking on lead roles in the West Otago Theatrical Society production of Jesus Christ Superstar in June and July at MLT Community Theatre in Tapanui. Craig Wadsworth (left) is playing the supporting role of Pontius Pilate and Victoria Kelly is taking on the role of Mary Magdalene. The pair have appeared in four shows together over the years. Mrs Kelly, who said she was surprised to have been cast in the role, said performing was like "magic" on a stage. "When you feel that passion sitting in the audience, it's probably double that being on stage," she said. Mr Wadsworth said he had pretty much been appearing in shows every year since 2009, and his first production in Gore was Jesus Christ Superstar. Central Otago’s Darren Kelly is playing the lead role. The show runs from June 26 to July 4 at the West Otago Community Centre in Tapanui.
