It’s not offensive or mind-blowing but it does bring a goofy tone and, while not what I’d call an essential watch, it’s an hour and a-half of good entertainment.
I appreciated how the director immediately jumps into the story without wasting any time.
The trio of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Ms Marvel (Iman Vellani) iscool, with their ability to switch positions with their powers.
We follow them for much of the movie as they work together in another bid to save the universe.
Canadian Vellani, as Ms Marvel, is the standout.
She plays well off the other actors and appears to really relish being in the film.
I found her to be the most enjoyable part of it all.
There was a side plot about cats — in fact cats were quite important to the plot of the film — and you will get no complaints from me about that.
In fact, I will give the cat scenes a 10 out of 10.
However the villain leaves a bit to desired.
Dar-Benn, played by British actor Zawe Ashton, is essentially another version of Ronan the Accuser from Guardians of the Galaxy 1.
She caused some pretty major damage in the film and the ending, which has some pretty big consequences.
The story ends with a big clue that will eventually lead into future multiverse-centred movies.
