Confident-boosting win in javelin for Robinson

Parafed athlete Holly Robinson has had a confidence-boosting win across the Tasman, less than two months before she is to line up at the Commonwealth Games.

Robinson won the ambulant javelin throw at the Australian championships on the Gold Coast on Thursday.Robinson threw 40.66m in the F46 grade to easily win the competition which featured three other throwers.

It was not far off her personal-best of 41.22m which she set at the world championships in London last year.

Southern javelin throwers Laura Overton and Tori Peeters have both made it through to the final after qualifying yesterday.

Overton was the seventh-best qualifier with a throw of 46.51m while Peeters racked up a throw of 45.43m in difficult conditions.

Leading Australian thrower Kathryn Mitchell recorded the top throw in qualifying of 57.54m. The final is on today.

The meet is a dress rehearsal for the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in April.
