Paralympians in form

Paralympians  on their way to Rio de Janeiro for the Paralympics have showed some encouraging form, Dunedin's Anna Grimaldi setting a national record.

Competing in an athletics meet on the Gold Coast, Grimaldi won the T47 100m in 13.13sec, which was a New Zealand record.

She also recorded a long jump of 5.20m.

Other New Zealand athletes also performed well.

Liam Malone recorded 11.17sec in the T44 100m which was also a New Zealand record.

William Stedman recorded 26.43sec in the T36 200, 2min 13.73sec in the 800m and then jumped 4.95m in the long jump.

Jacob Phillips recorded a time of 14.40 in the T35 100m.

Holly Robinson had a top throw of 39.99m in the F46 javelin, Caitlin Dore threw 19.63m in the F37 javelin and Rory McSweeney had a throw in the F44 javelin of 48.53m.

Also competing at the meet was Dunedin javelin thrower Tori Peeters, who recorded a throw of 48.87m.
