The entrants in the junior girls race start at the Logan Park race yesterday.
The race was one of four grades contested at the park yesterday and the first of four races in the winter running school series.
First home in the junior girls race of 2.5km was Gabby Kakahi, of Taieri College. The junior boys race, also over 2.5km, was won by Grayson Westgate, of John McGlashan College. Rebekah Hill, of Otago Girls' High School won the senior girls race over 2.5km while Nathan Hill, of Otago Boys' High School, claimed the senor boys 5km race.
There were 145 entrants in the event, the most since 2014.
