Three stalwarts of the green have been accorded the ultimate honour.

Fairfield members Anne Craik and Michael Ayers and Roslyn member Isobel Sharp were given life membership of Bowls Dunedin at its annual meeting recently.

Craik has played a huge role in coaching the sport, and developing it at youth and schools level, as well as holding various roles with the centre.

Ayers has been influential in umpiring for 14 years, including serving as Bowls New Zealand chief umpire.

Sharp was also an umpire for several years, and served as both chairwoman and president of Bowls Dunedin.

Sharp and Fiona McKenzie (St Clair) replace Ruth Williams and David Natta on the Bowls Dunedin board, joining president Grant Simpson, vice-president Dot Mowat, Andy McLean, Chris Morland, Geoff Purdon and centre manager Darryl Young. The chairman or woman will be elected at the next board meeting.
