The Meadowbank quartet of Daphne Campbell, Mary Watson, Barbara Allan and Shaz Yaxley won the Centre's Open Fours played at the Phoenix club on Saturday from Brenda Hope's four, from the Phoenix club.
In the seven-round round robin competition Campbell finished with four wins over Judy Wilson, Aileen Blyth, Rosey Oliver, Joan Munro and a 10-10 draw with Kerry Kelly and a 12-6 loss to Brenda Hope.
Second place went to Awamoa's Oliver, with eight points and a differential of plus 27, followed by Hope, who took third place with eight points and a differentiasl of minus three.
Watson claimed her second gold star with her win, while Campbell claimed her 18th title, Allan her ninth and lead Shaz Yaxley gained her first centre title.
Graham Sangster, who went into the post section play in the men’s two-life singles with both lives intact, lost both of them early in the second day, going under to Robbie Halcrow, 21-16, and Peter Bell, 21-18. Bell and Halcrow fought out the final, Bell defeating Halcrow 21-18 and denying him his first Gold Star.
